The route starts from Stafal, a village in the Gressoney-La-Trinité municipality, first along the Lys torrent on the orographic right, then turning left to climb along a track that crosses a sparse larch grove and reaches the Treje clearing.
The trail proceeds at a gentler gradient and, cutting across a ski slope, leads to the beautiful plateau of S. Anna. The trail does not penetrate the plain, although the S. Anna chapel, built in 1726 on a pre-existing emergency shelter for those who climbed to the Bettaforca pass, is worth a visit. Framing the chapel are some peaks of the Rosa group, the Corno Bianco massif and the deep furrow of the Gressoney valley.
Having passed the S. Anna plain, the track becomes steeper, touches the Sitten restaurant (2297 m a.s.l.) and enters the Bettaforca valley until reaching the pass of the same name.
