The Mezzalama Trophy, known as the “glacier marathon”

Historic ski mountaineering race held on the glaciers of the Aosta Valley's Monte Rosa region, reaching altitudes over 4,000 meters. Created in 1933 in honor of Ottorino Mezzalama, a pioneer of ski mountaineering, the competition keeps alive the spirit of alpine adventure, without mechanical support. After several interruptions, it has been permanently revived since 1997 thanks to the Mezzalama Trophy Foundation.

Today the route stretches from Cervinia to Gressoney-la-Trinité, with teams of two roped together, making it a unique event and among the most challenging in the world.

Mezzalama Jeunes

For the past few years, this historic race has been joined by the Jeunes version, reserved for younger athletes, but no less exciting. Its peculiarity is the course, entirely designed on the territory of Gressoney.

As with the Senior edition, the finish is planned in the beautiful village of Gressoney-La-Trinité, adding further charm to an already unique course.

The Mezzalama Jeunes represents an important passage for those who dream of one day trying their hand at the course of the major race: a test bench that holds all the charm of the original Trophy and at the same time enhances Gressoney as the cradle of this discipline. Here, the mountaineering tradition is renewed with each edition, training the new recruits of ski mountaineering in one of the most spectacular environments in the Alps.
