The Mezzalama Trophy, known as the “glacier marathon”
Historic ski mountaineering race held on the glaciers of the Aosta Valley's Monte Rosa region, reaching altitudes over 4,000 meters. Created in 1933 in honor of Ottorino Mezzalama, a pioneer of ski mountaineering, the competition keeps alive the spirit of alpine adventure, without mechanical support. After several interruptions, it has been permanently revived since 1997 thanks to the Mezzalama Trophy Foundation.
Today the route stretches from Cervinia to Gressoney-la-Trinité, with teams of three roped together, making it a unique event and among the most challenging in the world.
The 2025 edition will take place on April 25.
