Der Gourner or the Alagna pastry shop: two words derived from the ancient Walser dialect, which together say 'The Monterosa'. Exactly, it is under the Monterosa massif that our story begins with the meeting of two historical families of the valley.
The Bertoli family with its third generation of artisans, Carlotta and Mattia, who carry on what grandfather Carletto and grandmother Eva started: a small pastry and agnolotti production first in Varallo and then in the shadow of the Morca bridge.
The Stainer family, with its last male heir Pietro, who inherited the hotel genes from his great-grandfather Ulderico, owner of the renowned Stainer hotel in Alagna Valsesia in the 1940s. After a career as a cook and chef in prestigious Italian hotels, he decided to return home and dedicate himself to pastry making.
The meeting of our artisan families gave birth to 'Pasticceria & Caffetteria Der Gourner'. For a sweet future in Alagna. Pastry shop Der Gourner, boasts artisanal production in the on-site laboratory, with a look to the past by choosing raw materials from the territory and a look to the future with innovative production and storage systems.
All this to guarantee the end consumer a product of excellent workmanship and traditional flavours.
