Night ski mountaineering in Gressoney: from January 31, a unique and safe experience
In the Monterosa Ski area in Gressoney Valley, it will be possible to ski mountaineering at night in total safety. Starting January 31, the slopes will be accessible at night on the following days: January 31, February 14 and 28, March 14 and 28, and April 11.
Available routes
Stafal - Sant'Anna: 2,300 m development, 350 m positive elevation gain (trail B6 Delle Marmotte).
Sant'Anna - Colle Betta: 3,100 m development, 550 m positive elevation gain (Colle Betta route).
Services and refreshments
Thanks to collaboration with the Jutz, Sitten and Ristoro Colle Betta refreshments, it will be possible to enjoy an aperitif or dinner at altitude. The Stafal-Sant'Anna cable car, which operates from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. with rides every 30 minutes (last descent at 10:15 p.m.), offers a convenient service at a cost of €5. Access is free for Monterosa Ski season pass holders.
Downhill
Pistone Betta, Delle Marmotte and Diretta Stafal slopes are open for the return run, with last descent from Colle Betta at 22:00, accompanied by Monterosa Ski's pisteur secouriste.
Recommendations
To make the most of this experience:
- Wear warm clothing, helmet and headlamp on.
- Keep cell phone on.
- Use only the marked trails.
- Moderate speed and be careful on the Delle Marmotte trail, traveled both uphill and downhill.
- Use of ski touring equipment is mandatory (no snowshoes or crampons).
